Safe and accessible housing is a necessity for life

Everyone deserves to have a place to call home. Safe, quality housing is essential to physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. It provides stability and reduces stress so individuals and families can focus on what matters most — taking care of themselves and their families. Many charitable organizations are advancing this work in our region by offering housing support programs, emergency shelter services, harm reduction, youth services and homelessness prevention.

Support Housing

There are a number of ways you can support local housing organizations in our community, including:

Sooke Shelter Society, where support meets dignity

The Sooke Shelter Society provides essential services and compassionate support to those experiencing housing insecurity. They meet people where they’re at with a range of outreach services including emergency shelter and supportive housing.

Housing Advocacy and Support

The Tenancy Legal Advocacy and Empowerment Project help tenants navigate complex legal and housing issues in an attempt to prevent homelessness. They provide their clients with one-on-one assistance for residential tenancy issues, such as eviction, rent payment troubles and conflict management, among other services.
