The arts reflect who we are

They help us tell our stories, honour our history and foster belonging and connection. When the arts are more deeply supported and integrated into communities, they have the power to elevate wellbeing and quality of life. From dance and music to visual arts and theatre, there are a number of charitable organizations creating a diverse mix of cultural offerings in the capital region.

Support arts and culture

There are a number of ways you can support local arts organizations in our community:

Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra: Carrying Music Forward

The Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra offers musicians aged 13 to 28 outstanding classical training in a space where they are safe, seen and surrounded by others who are just as passionate. “When they play, everything else disappears,” says Board member Evelyn Higgins. “You can feel the passion.”

Inclusive Inspiration Through Dance

Dance Victoria’s Artists Residency Program enables emerging artists to develop their work and extend their reach. Successful applicants enjoy studio time and a financial contribution toward their project budget. “This support encourages artists to stay in the city, providing one more opportunity to continue their creative endeavors in Victoria,” states Dayna Szyndrowski, Dance Victoria’s General Manager.
