Advancing gender equality across Canada

This fund supported organizations whose core activities, leadership, mission and vision are committed to advancing gender equality. Local grants empowered women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender-diverse individuals through projects and programs that included health-related services, peer support, food security and the arts.

The Victoria Foundation proudly joined a group of community foundations across Canada as participants in the Fund for Gender Equality in Canada. This program was a collaboration between Community Foundations of Canada Equality Fund, and supported by the Government of Canada. As participants in this program, we also committed to examining our organizational and investment practices to better support gender equality.

Advancing Gender Equality through Collaboration

One of the recipients of the 2023 Fund for Gender Equality was Restorative Justice Victoria, a project aimed at improving capacity for restorative and transformative justice services for cases of sexual harm. By addressing the harm done, not the laws broken, this work pursues meaningful justice for victims.
