Scholarship Programs
Supporting education at home and abroad
In addition to hosting over 100 scholarship funds set up by generous donors, the Victoria Foundation administers scholarship programs in partnership with the Government of British Columbia.
BC Scholarship Society
BC Scholarship Society provides hundreds of scholarships and awards annually to help British Columbia post-secondary students achieve their educational goals. Since its inception in 2004, over $39 million has been distributed through its six unique programs. These programs offer financial support for Indigenous students, women studying technology, Adult Basic Education learners, study abroad candidates, and those required to transfer between institutions to complete their certifications. The Victoria Foundation provides administrative support to the Society.
The Learning Fund for Young Adults
The Learning Fund for Young Adults (LFYA) is a one-time grant of $1,500 that helps young people with care experience participate in a range of learning opportunities. To support flexibility and autonomy in decision making, applicants are encouraged to use this grant for an educational, employment, training or life-skills program, course or activity based on their interests and goals. The grant is offered in partnership between the Ministry of Children and Family Development and the Victoria Foundation.
The Youth Education Assistance Fund
The Youth Education Assistance Fund provides education grants to young adults who were formerly in the care of the B.C. Ministry of Children and Family Development or an Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency. The Youth Education Assistance Fund is a partnership between the Ministry of Children & Family Development, the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and the Victoria Foundation which manages the endowment.
Please note that this program will be closing in 2027 as the Province of BC has introduced the Learning for Future Grants program in its place. See this Student Aid BC FAQ for more information.
